About Houmas House Plantation & Gardens
Houmas House Plantation and Gardens has reclaimed its position as Crown Jewel of Louisiana's River Road. Through the vision and determination of Kevin Kelly, who fulfilled a lifelong dream by acquiring the property in the Spring of 2003, the mansion today reflects the best parts of each period in its rich history alongside the big bend in the Mississippi River.
Our cottages are nestled along an alley of ancient oak trees, where you will have full access to our world famous gardens to watch the sunset or relax in a cozy spot and enjoy the gentle breeze from the Mississippi River. The cottages depict historic structures that once graced Uncle Sam Plantation, which was located downriver from Houmas House. Each room is complete with a single king or queen size bed or double queen beds, marble bathrooms, and a porch to enjoy the view.
Luxurious and romantic, each room is decorated with old world furnishings allowing you to experience the lavish lifestyle of the wealthy Sugar Barons of the early 1800's. With all the amenities world class travelers expect today. Breakfast and a tour of the mansion are included.

The Gardens of Houmas House Plantation have been developed as a lush 38-acre panorama of indigenous Louisiana plant life and stunning exotics designed to beckon visitors to extend their stay.
Like the statues of the four seasons patiently await the arrival of each solstice and equinox along the River Road, the Gardens are planned to reflect the unique beauty of each part of the year.
Many sitting areas have been provided around the property to invite guests to sit and experience the year-round grandeur of the ancient oak alley, the fragrance of spring and summer blooms and the sights and sounds of bird life, wildlife and plantation life of long ago.
Houmas House Plantation, one of the South's oldest and most beautiful plantation estates, is the home of Latil's Landing Restaurant, The Carriage House Restaurant, Cafe' Burnside, Le Petite Houmas Restaurant and The Wine Cellars of Houmas House.
In the tradition of Old Louisiana Dining, Chef Joseph DiCapo has created menus that will delight and please the finest of guests, and present you with an experience rivaling those of the great Sugar Barons of the 1800's.
Don’t forget our magnificent tours that we do here at Houmas House. Our specially trained tour guides enjoy their subject and their guests. They are more than happy to answer questions or engage requests for more information. The plantation is staffed with plenty of guides to keep groups small and the presentation tailored to what is most interesting to guests.
